So this year, and for the first time ever, I was lucky enough to go to London fashion weekend spring/summer 2015! Held at Sumerset House, a beautiful setting in itself, the day began with front row seats to a trend catwalk. Essentially a catwalk show presenting the pick of this seasons most talked about trends from a range of designers. There where four trends showcased on the catwalk- ‘hyper floral’s’, ‘shimmer and shine’, ‘make it monochrome’ and ‘that seventies show’. To my delight they were all spectacular and I took the opportunity to snap some pictures- now i can give my own take on what spring/summer 2015 has to offer…
‘Hyper Florals’ –
Bold, bright, botanical reinvention of what floral print means in fashion. Designs from Marni, Christopher kane, Peter Pilotts and others are all showing over-sized prints and bursts of colour are all essentials for our summer wardrobe. Weather its midi skirt or trousers floral’s have been hyped! Not forgetting the detail and definition of petal embellishments I cant wait to rock this look on a hot summer day! Blooming lovely.
‘Shimmer and Shine’-
It seems to be all about the shimmer and glimmer this SS15. The runway was filled with sorbet metallic’s, with every step a shimmering sparkle. From Alexandra Wang to Isobel Marant glitter reigns. No better way to celebrate the coming summer than sequins and glamour, I love it all and cant wait to see more of this trend!
At first I was disappointed that we cant get away from this “monochrome magic” however I soon changed my mind when saw what was coming down the catwalk! Black and white, white and black… it never gets old. This trend is still going strong and proved it has a place in SS15. The classic colour combination is coming out in graphic prints, bold two tone finishes and oversized stripes. Alexander Wang and 3.1 Lim demonstrated this trend flawlessly, full of sophistication and elegance.
‘That seventies show’-
Oh we love the 70′ style, its such a summer look! Its all about the revival of flares and hippy chicks. Fringing is simply amazing, they look and feel great and i’m so excited its a top trend for SS15. From bohemian to disco the catwalk was full of natural hues and flower child faves. Designs form Diane Von Furstenberg and Issa made a strong argument for this trend and I have the feeling its going to be a summer full of suede, lace and fringing!
I had such a great day at London fashion weekend 2015 I cant wait till the next one!
All photography was done my self- hence the odd angels!
